The Voter Registration team has held 18 events since February. With the registration of 43 voters at the Ben and Jerry’s Free Cone Day (see photos), we have now registered or changed addresses for 425 people in 2018.
Big news! We’re going to JAIL!
Voter Service Team members recently reached an agreement with officials of the Larimer County Jail allowing the League to present information on voting rights and register the eligible inmates. Everyone helping with this project will need to attend a training at the Larimer County Jail on Wednesday, May 23 from 8:30-11:30 AM to prepare us for what we can and can’t do while in the jail. Interested? If you are not currently trained to do voter registration and/or you need a League training or refresher on the voting rights of t
hose with criminal convictions, please contact Linda Thomas at for more information. Contact Linda if you wish to attend the training at the jail on May 23.
Water Board Vote 411 and Candidate Forum
Vote411 is LIVE, and a Candidate Forum will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at the Harmony Library Fort Collins from 7:30-9:00 pm. FOR WHAT? you might ask! The Fort Collins/Loveland Water District Board!
Seven candidates are vying for 3 open seats on the Board. The League was asked by candidates and the Management of the Water Board to offer www.VOTE411.org and a Candidate Forum. The Water Board secured a location and time for the Forum.
The Voter Service Team and the Environmental Team wrote four questions on VOTE411.org for candidates. Go on line to compare their answers.
Attend the Candidate Forum. Ask questions, learn how a Water District works and
see the candidates.
The Fort Collins/Loveland Water District was formed in the early 1960’s when the south part of Fort Collins and north part of Loveland were rural areas, not covered in the Fort Collins or Loveland Water Districts. Today the cities have changed, and the FCLWD includes 17,000 voters, but usually only about 350 people cast ballots. The website, www.fclwd.com, has a link to the exact voter district that includes an area approximately south of Harmony Road in Fort Collins to 57th Street in Loveland, from the foothills to the Weld County line.
