How much do you really know about the rules? Would you know where to discover who has funded local issues and candidate campaigns? We’ll move beyond Citizens United to examine how money in politics finds its way onto our local ballots at the League’s first Drinks and Dialogue event.
Our first will be held at Game Day Grill (formerly Pappy’s Pub) with LWV’s Election Reform Team: Making Democracy Work on June 26 at 5:30 to discuss Campaign Finance And Your Ballot. We will hear a brief presentation by Sam Houghteling of the Straayer Center for Public Service Leadership, followed by casual Q & A time with beer.
Drinks and Dialogue evenings are planned to bring people together in an informal setting to discuss issues important to our community. The evenings will start at 5:30 with a short presentation by a community member, followed by informal discussion as long as people want to talk. Drinks and Dialogue will be held this summer and fall at a local establishment with food and drinks available.
